My Story
Hi, I am Sinead and I am lucky enough to be one of 24 Transition Year students who hope to travel to Zambia in June 2020 with Cuala GAA Club in Dalkey. There we will build new homes for families in need through the Habitat for Humanity charity.
As one of the students taking part in this life-changing trip I will become a volunteer builder for 2 weeks. We will learn how to build the houses when we get there and we hope to build 3 houses in total which will become homes to families who desperately need them.
I was shocked to learn that there are families with no parents and no homes, people my age who don't get the chance to go to school because they have no house. Through building these houses I can be part of changing that. Check out this short video to see what I mean - https://youtu.be/-2CEabvcH6A
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit housing organization working to empower people in the world’s poorest communities to overcome the chronic lack of decent housing. Their vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. They build strength, stability, and self reliance through shelter.
If you can and would like to help me through this page please do. Don't worry though as I know that it does not suit everyone to donate online, I will be organising a number of fundraising projects over the coming months to make this all happen and will let you know about how you can donate directly to me then.
I would greatly appreciate any donation, big or small. Thank you very much for the support : )
Sinead.
